Types of Chimney Liners

There are three main types of chimney liners, although there may only be one right type for your home. 

• Clay Tile Liners: These are very common in older homes. While they are often very durable, they can be prone to cracking from repeated exposure to very high heat. Clay liners are the least expensive of the three options.

• Cast-in-Place Liners: This is a cement-like filling that is applied to existing flues for additional insulation and extra reinforcement. Due to specialty equipment, this type of liner is the most expensive of the three options but comes with a long lifespan of up to 50 years.
• Stainless Steel Liners: This mid-range option is very durable, relatively easy to install, and long-lasting. It’s corrosion-resistant and ideal for wood, gas, or oil appliances.
