Chimney Inspection

How do you know if your chimney, fireplace, or other attached heating appliance is structurally sound and free of hazardous materials? An annual chimney inspection, of course. Our chimney sweep will also let you know whether your chimney needs cleaning. We perform all three levels of inspection per National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards:

Level I:

This is the standard annual inspection that most Mecklenburg County homeowners need. It includes a visual internal and external examination of the chimney, vents, and attached heating appliances.

Level II:

This includes a Level 1 inspection, plus a video scan of the flue to look for abnormalities that may not be visible to the naked eye. A level 2 inspection is necessary upon selling your residence, installing a new appliance, or modifying an existing heating appliance or fuel source. It is also required after a significant weather event like a tropical storm, hurricane, etc.

Level III:

A level 3 inspection is necessary when the chimney sweep when a level 1 or 2
inspection reveals that significant damage has occurred in an area of the chimney that is not
readily accessible. It may require the removal of a component or a portion of the structure to
locate and repair the damage.
